TriYoga is a complete and revolutionary system based in ancient yoga and embodies the full spectrum of yoga teachings. The practice includes asana (posture), pranayama (rhythmic breath), mudra (inner focus), dharana (concentration) and dhyana (meditation). With the systematic approach, students can remain with Basics or progress to subsequent levels. Within each level, students increase their knowledge of posture and flow as well as strength, flexibility, endurance, breath control and yoga philosophy. Slow even-pacing, economy of movement and relaxation-in-action is emphasized. Through sustained awareness on all aspects of the practice, the movement of body, breath and mudra harmonize and the inner flow naturally emerges and self-realization occurs.
For those new to yoga or TriYoga and for those who want to return to the foundation of the practice, Basics includes five primary series that introduce the full range of movement to the body. Sequences focus on freeing the hips and spine from tension that impacts the body. Gentle movements simultaneously awaken the energy and calm the mind, leaving one feeling more relaxed and alive.
Beginning with Basics, each level is a prerequisite for the next. What we bring to each level is a healthy knowledge of the previous one. Level 1 builds on Basics and develops greater stamina, strength and flexibility. This level presents salutations, sequences of standing postures, extended flows for the spine and inversions at the wall.
Using knowledge from Level 1, this level continues to develop backward bending and hip openings. Arm balances are introduced, as well as inversions away from the wall. Stamina increases through longer flows with rest postures spaced further apart.
Using knowledge from Level 2, this level intensifies the practice and systematically builds strength in the upper and lower body. This level presents more involved turns, spinal movements, hip openings, inversions, and balancing sequences.
TriYoga Therapeutics draws from the five Basics Series of TriYoga. This class is for those who need a very gentle approach to yoga due to physical limitations, injury, illness, or being over-tired and stressed. The yoga postures are deeply nurturing, therapeutic and restorative bringing the body and mind into a state of balance. Props are used to ensure comfort and to support proper alignment.
